C101 SuperSync Board
The Economic Sync/Async I/O Solution

[Introduction]

The C101 SuperSync Board is the most effective board for
software developers looking for low cost synchronous,
asynchronous communication hardware. The C101 provides one
programmable RS-232 (or V.35) port which is designed for interfacing
to a wide range of hosts as well as public and prorietary
communication protocols.

The C101 SuperSync Board offers a 16 bit ISA interface which is also
EISA compatible. The C101 design is based on the Hitachi HD64570
Serial Communications Adapter (SCA) chip. This SCA is a highly
integrated advanced communications subsystem providing sync/async
port, built-in DMA controller, 32 byte FIFO, as well as interrupt and
timer logic. The C101 has many protocol-specific features designed to
maximize performance by minimizing driver overhead.

The key is the Direct Memory Access (DMA) technology. The 256K bytes
of onboard dual ported memory is directly addressable by both the
system and the SCA's DMA. This results in lower system overhead and a
line speed of up to 7M bps (sync) or 1M bps (async).

A suite of utilities is provided to ease the setup, monitoring and
diagnostics of the board. Comprehensive device drivers and programming
interface (API-Sync) under DOS and Windows are also supplied to
benefit the application development.
